Autumn~Winter Solstice
It's a while since I started this blog or posted anything other than music and I'm not sure I have anything relevant to say everyday, so I'll use this blog like a casual journal.
I've been filling requests for pottery and closing the house and yard up for winter. As the autumn-sun turns into winter-sun and the short days become shorter, I reflect on the state of the planet. The changing seasons, remind me of the power of nature and how it controls the earth. Whether you believe in global warming or not...The weather seems to be killing more people and creating more destruction, which will take years to cleanup and replace. That being said, I believe the planet has always wreaked havoc on humans, although it seems we hear of weather disasters more frequently. I suppose we can thank instant communications from around the world for that information, so is the weather just being normal...?
Today as I look from my window it has warmed up to +1*Celsius and it is quite windy, but I have the wood stove going to warm the this tiny house. Once you start burning wood, you get spoiled by the intense heat and you can dress like it's summer. So when going outside it seems much colder than it is and I tend to overdress to keep as warm as what I'm used to inside, which means many layers. When visiting friends it always colder in their houses than what I like, and when they come here they find it hot or just right, depending on who it is. I wonder how many other folks still burn wood or just use gas, oil or if they have deep pockets, electricity. I bought a high efficient gas furnace, when urban sprawl brought the gas line down my street. The times I burn gas are when I can't burn wood due to the lack of cold draft in the stove pipe, usually when the outside temperature is+ 10*C or above. Since I started using wood, the price has gone up and gas prices have gone down, but it's still my preferred fuel and you can't beat the warmth. Well it's time to make another coffee and get some chores done. If anyone is reading this, have a wonderful day and appreciate it, as though it is your last...
Cheers
Bill
